It rained yesterday (Tuesday. I'm late posting this) morning, and we all mostly stayed inside all day. Mid-afternoon, Scott, Cordelia, and I went for a drive to a nearby small town that has a bookstore. Cordelia drove both ways because Scott couldn't find any shoes but his flip-flops.

Scott and I knocked out some Ingress portals in hopes of taking down some large fields. We got one set of nested fields, but the bigger one, the one covering where we're staying, was anchored further on, and Cordelia was already complaining that we were wasting her time. Also, we needed to get back here in order to cook dinner.

We found Scott's shoes pretty much as soon as we got back, so I'm very glad he didn't buy from the only place we could find selling shoes-- That was a hole in the wall sporting goods place that had one thing his size-- a pair of sandals for $150. If we'd had more time for our excursion, we might have looked further, but the nearest other place Google suggested would have added half an hour to our trip without us even going into the store, so... not happening.

I am so very, very tired. This many people in close proximity is stressful for me, especially when two of them pretty constantly say things I strongly disagree with. Scott’s sister’s husband mansplains a lot, and Scott’s father is evangelical about whatever new food or exercise or supplement he’s currently trying. Guaranteed to cure everything wrong with anybody! He’s also convinced that people who don’t share his religious views (fairly mainstream Methodist) will go to hell. He’s saddened by not being sure his long dead father was saved.

My body has also decided to let me know that I’m still at least 12 months from menopause. I’ve been regular for almost a year now, and every single medical person looks irritated when I say that, yes, I am still having periods. At the very least, it means that they have to disregard weight changes, either direction, of up to 5 pounds.

The period means that I’m extra exhausted at a point when I can’t get the foods I’d like for iron. I also don’t have my usual morning drink stuff and am trying to cobble things together. Combining that with a bed that has waking feeling bruised and with me taking the maximum prescribed (for me) dose of halcion leaves me groggy. I’m using the maximum dose because I’m wound really tight by evening, clenched teeth, tight shoulders/neck, mental wheels spinning rapidly.

Everyone but me went to the Sleeping Bear dunes yesterday. I did laundry and some dinner dinner prep. We ended up eating extremely late. I’m not sure who thought that roasting a turkey breast was a great idea for a day when most everyone would be out late enough that three hours plus prep time meant eating after 9. We ended up cooking one of the two turkey breasts in the instant pot. That still took more than an hour because they wanted to slather it in olive oil and herbs. They also couldn’t tell me how heavy the dratted thing was, so I had to guess how long to cook it. We ate around 8.
