Aug. 26th, 2018 01:55 pmWe’re on our way home. It’s a great relief.
I think I’d have just considered the whole thing neutral, even with Wednesday, if I hadn’t been sick all day Thursday and Friday.
The fudge I bought turned out to be quite good. I’m not sure how much we’re taking home because Scott didn’t check when he packed the box with the other food.
We didn’t try any of the audiobooks. Cordelia drove almost half of each trip and wanted her music. Scott listened to podcasts on the way home and the end of an autobiography on the way up. He thought the book was neutral and not stressful, but I didn’t think so. Part of what I found stressful was the writer dealing with cancer which I don’t think Scott knew was in there. The other part, I think he should have realized was inevitable. An autobiography of a person who was an astronaut during the late space shuttle era absolutely was going to cover death and disaster. The guy talked in detail about search and recovery for pieces of the shuttle and for ‘human remains.’
Of course, at that point, we weren’t in a position to change what was playing. I could have turned it off entirely, but it was playing from Scott’s phone, so changing it would have required doing things that would make driving harder. He’s got his phone mounted on the dashboard in a position where he can see the map on it. I’ve never attached or detached a phone from it and don’t want to risk it while we’re on the highway.
