Apr. 23rd, 2020 10:41 pmI'm almost certain that I'm allergic to the shampoo and conditioner that Cordelia and I use. I'm not sure if this is a change in the formula or a new allergy on my side. Now that we're not cooking with rosemary, the remaining rash that I've got can be explained by my skin reacting badly to Cordelia's hair. We've been using this stuff for more than a decade, and I'm not looking forward to the process of finding something new. I'm allergic to a lot of scents, but all of the unscented shampoos are extremely expensive (and those I've tried don't actually get my hair clean).
Scott needs to switch brands, too, because his current shampoo is rosemary-mint. He, at least, can sniff test his options before he buys them.
Cordelia and I usually get VO5 which is about $1.50 a bottle. More expensive options almost always fail the initial sniff test. Most of those that don't make me ill that way fail the test of how my skin and sinuses react after I've washed my hair with it and slept on it and all of that. The reaction can build up.
Baby shampoos generally fail the sniff test. We've got some Dr Bronner's that can be used as shampoo but that I don't know how I'll react to. Short contact with it in a highly diluted form has been okay for my hands. That doesn't mean much, however, as my face and neck tend to be more sensitive. I washed my hair with it today, though, so I've started the experiment.
