Oct. 27th, 2014 08:17 amYesterday was my brother's birthday. I called him but only got his voicemail. He is unlikely to call me back. I'm not sure I whether or not I should try calling again. I could. I'm just unlikely to get an answer most of the time.
Scott did the grocery shopping and raked leaves yesterday, both things he meant to get to on Saturday but didn't due to the bathroom faucet. Fortunately, the weather yesterday was every bit as good as the weather on Saturday, so the leaves weren't an awful chore, just time consuming. The tree out front hasn't dropped most of its leaves yet, though, so it's going to get worse. I hope we can manage to get rid of all the leaves before the city stops compost cart pick up at the end of November. (They pick up compost carts between the beginning of April and the end of November. I think they figure there's no yard work December through March.)
I ended up renewing a bunch of library books. I don't know if I'll get to them this month either, but it seems worth trying. I've got about eighteen books and ten magazines waiting for my attention (and that doesn't count the fic on my e-reader. I keep adding to that). I got three new things out yesterday-- a book on CD for Scott, the first DVD of the second season of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, and Steven Brust's latest book. The last two have holds on them, so we're going to have to get through them promptly.
As usual, we stopped at Bubble Island for bubble tea. I decided to try something new and got one of their specialty drinks. They call it a mojito. It's green tea with lime and mint. I liked it quite a bit, so I'll probably have it again.
Scott's thinking to change our ISP because he thinks Earthlink is too slow for what we're paying. I can see his point (though I don't do anything where the difference in speed will matter), but the prospect of changing over everything from my Earthlink e-mail to a new e-mail is daunting. I use the Earthlink e-mail for several things that pre-date my Gmail address, and I'm not sure I've tracked which things I use it for carefully enough. Arbor Parents is the big one, but that's easy enough to change.
