I didn't get to most of the shelving yesterday at the school library. There wasn't a lot of it, so I don't feel too bad about that. Instead, the librarian gave me a couple of projects. First, she had me pull a bunch of books for something she's doing with some of her classes about historical fiction. I think there were only about five books I didn't find which is pretty good. Second, she had me search some books in the catalog to see if we own them. I'd say that three quarters of the books were things that the library didn't own. For things that the library did own, I pulled the library's copies to compare with the donated copies.

Among the things I searched was the stuff from the box of books Cordelia no longer wanted. Most of those, the library didn't own, but I suspect that about half of those won't be added to the collection anyway because they're High School Musical books. I think the popularity of High School Musical has passed enough that likely nobody would read them. Of course, I may be wrong, and some of those books are in pretty good shape. I think the Phineas and Ferb books will end up in the collection because the show is still relatively popular. Also, the library can always use more books at that reading level.

I offered the librarian the three books of jigsaw puzzles that I removed from Cordelia's room (with her permission) on Wednesday. She thought that some teacher or another would probably want them. At least, it can't hurt to offer them. She thought immediately of the kindergarten classes, but we agreed that 48 piece puzzles were likely to be too hard for most of them.

Our cleaning lady now wants to tackle the basement. I told her we should put that off until it's warmer, and she reluctantly agreed. I also told her that I'd been thinking to hire her to help me with the job. (She did Cordelia's room for free, wouldn't let me pay her.) Scott keeps saying that we'll clean the basement on our own, but it's been months, and we haven't touched it. I think we really need help to get started. Cordelia won't be much help-- She says she's scared to go down there because of the spiderwebs and mouse turds. I can get her to take her laundry down but not much else. The toys and such that are down there might as well be lost. There's a small sized mattress down there that I think we'll have to throw out. We have no use for it, and we can't donate or sell it, and we don't know anyone who's likely to want it.

TextEdit, the word processing program I usually use, has been glitching on me. Every so often it decides that it can't save anything. The only thing I can do it to copy my work into another program, quit, delete the document that's having problems, open a new document, and paste in the text from the old one. It's not happening often, only a couple of times a month, but it's very annoying when it does. I'm only still using it because Pages drives me up the wall.
