The Chrome browser brings in its own copy of Flash; Chrome does not rely on Flash already installed on your computer. (I hope this means that Google and Chrome are taking care of the routine Flash security updates... :-/ )
I run the same way you do, I think. I do most of my browsing in Firefox, with no Flash installed, and then I change to Chrome when I want to play music or YouTubes. (Though a few sites deliver streaming media in Firefox; maybe that's HTML 5? Not an area I have had time to explore.
