To teach the boys how to read a protractor, I had them measure angles from various math books, then I taught them how to construct angles using the protractor. It's fairly straightforward, especially if it's a simple ABC angle.

Draw her baseline, set the end exactly on the crosshairs (focal point), mark the angle with a dot, then slide the protractor to use the straight edge to draw the angle.

Her teacher is SKIPPING STEPS in instruction. This is a BAD SIGN. For your immediate use so Cordelia doesn't get overwhelmed quickly:

Free to sign up. Ask what the key topic is for the day, and look for videos. Even if she thinks she understands it, there is a VERY good chance that the teacher is presuming that she's already learned a list of things-- like how to construct an angle without tracing it from the book.

Email the instructor EVERY TIME there's a major skipped instruction like this. SURE, she'll probably ignore it, but you NEED that record if it starts to affect Cordelia's grades.

"Look, she didn't teach five of the six key concepts for this assignment, and here's my proof. It's not fair to expect my child to find out she's missing information she didn't know she needed to teach HERSELF."
