Sep. 29th, 2015 06:38 pmScott's parents knocked on the backdoor five minutes after I got up this morning. It's a really good thing I woke when I did because I would not have heard them over the ceiling fan if I'd still been in bed. I was able to find Scott's robe, so I could answer let them in. I'd completely forgotten they were coming. They had come to do yard work, so I had the house to myself for a while, until my MIL got too tired to keep going. She's recovering from pneumonia in August, so I was surprised she did as much as she did.
Scott had to go in early this morning. He had a choice between staying late yesterday and going in early today, and he had a dental appointment after work yesterday. He was about twenty minutes late getting to the appointment, but they fit him in anyway. I had called to cancel the appointment at twenty minutes before he was due there. I figured I should because he hadn't yet called to say he was leaving work and because I knew he'd need at least half an hour from calling me to arriving at the dentist. Five minutes later, he called to say he was getting out of work, so I had him call them to see if he should come in late or reschedule.
After his dental appointment, he picked up bread at Zingerman's. Then he was surprised when Cordelia and I wanted to eat it rather than leaving it all for his lunches this week. What did he expect? Zingerman's bread is extremely good and not something we get at all often.
Cordelia's social studies and English teacher sent out an email complaining that the kids are being disruptive by tapping their pencils and other things excessively. Cordelia told me that the teacher told the kids to stop and then, foolishly, told them that, if they didn't, she'd make the ones still doing it stay after and wash desks instead of sending them on to their next classes. According to Cordelia, washing desks was a much more attractive option for many kids than their next classes, so this threat actually made many kids tap more obviously and aggressively. I wonder if I should mention that to the teacher?
Scott changed the fitted sheet on our bed last night. (I had stripped the bed, so he didn't have much choice.) He didn't, however, put the pillowcases on my pillows. I managed that, but I did more than a little swearing about the process. He says it's because he doesn't know how to arrange my pillows, but I think that putting pillowcases on has very little to do with where to put the pillows after that.
I'm a little cranky with Scott. For the last two or three months, we've had a bill from the university medical system that's a bit more than $10. He has kept assuring me that he's going to pay it or that he thought he had paid it. I ended up going online and paying the stupid thing with a credit card this afternoon because they were threatening to send it to collections if I didn't pay today. I have no idea why Scott never paid it. He has no idea why he never paid it. $10.
I have no idea where my day went today. I only got up about an hour later than usual, but I feel like the day just evaporated.
I need to know what time my appointments on Thursday will end, and I can't seem to dig up that information anywhere. I don't have a direct number to call for anything but canceling the appointment. Scott's mother is assuming that we'll be done by 1:00, but I'm by no means certain that we will. There's a lot of stuff that's supposed to get done, and I haven't noted them to be very fast about anything like this.
