As to Scott's mother, I'm not sure. She is apt to overlook people's stated preferences to do things the way she thinks they ought to be done.
Looking back, I'm still not quite reconciled to the things she did around our wedding reception-- I'd asked that the food be served while the wedding party was still upstairs getting pictures taken, and she (without telling me) told the caterers that they were not to serve anything until Scott and I arrived because we had to get food first.
She also decided that the plan we'd made to have food there that I could eat was too complicated and that I could eat what was being served to everyone else. That meant that the only things I could safely eat at our wedding receptions were the cake and plain bread. I was not thrilled.
That was all complicated by the fact that Scott's parents paid for everything that Scott and I couldn't afford because my parents considered putting money into the wedding wasteful and wouldn't do it.
