If I understood what I read correctly, the narrator of this particular Viets book had either murdered or attempted to murder her husband on finding him in bed with someone else. She was on the run and working and renting off the books, cash only. The idea that the correct response to adultery is a crowbar to the head... It didn't make me sympathize with her. It made me wonder who she'd brain next.
