I don't recall the character names, so I'll go with Gwen. This version had, ah, plot holes. Gwen's parents met in India where her mother had gone to get away from her brother. She stole some jewels before they got married. When Gwen was a toddler, the police were closing in, so the parents faked the mother's death. Gwen and her father returned to England, and the mother followed under a new identity. The parents started a courtship as if they had just met.
And, for some reason, the mother's new identity involved being part of a close knit theater group. That part didn't make much sense to me except as a way to pile up suspects.
