I vote in person at elections that aren't likely to have long lines. Long lines mean that my anxiety goes through the roof and that the process of voting will leave me pretty much wrecked, physically. I could probably do it, if everything went just right, but when does that happen? And, if something didn't go right, I might not be able to do the household stuff that needs doing.
The absentee ballot is plastered with warnings about not showing it to anyone or talking about it with people or letting other people touch it at all. There's an entire extra set of forms to fill out if the person voting is of sound mind but can't, for whatever reason, fill out the ballot themselves.
I did show my thirteen year old my ballot because she didn't remember ever seeing one. I explained the different ways to fill one out. She's five years from voting herself.
