Nakki no miko has started visiting me on Wednesdays (twice so far). She works just up the road, so stopping by after work isn't as big a deal as it might be if she worked downtown. We've been loaning each other anime and manga. (I'm hoping that I can hook her on Planet Ladder. She agrees that the art is gorgeous, and she took the five volumes I've got home with her last night.) We talk kids (she has an almost three year old), anime, fan fiction and whatever else comes to mind. It's really nice to have some adult company that isn't Scott.
Monday night, all three of us visited
alessar. We were picking up some tapes he'd made for me, but he was nice enough to let us hang out for a little while. Delia was fascinated both by the new person and by the new place. I really enjoyed getting out of the house and seeing
alessar. More of that adult interaction thing...
Scott's birthday was Tuesday.
booniverse and her husband came over to watch Delia so we could go out to dinner. We went to the Blue Nile, an Ethiopian place downtown. There was some sort of large group eating there, probably about 40 people, all wearing nametags. Judging by the after dinner speaker, it was some sort of fundraiser for Ethiopian Jews. I didn't really listen because I was starting to feel not all that good... A bit of sudden intestinal distress.
Me feeling bad ended our evening out a little earlier than we'd planned but not much. We'd talked about trying to find dessert (Blue Nile doesn't serve dessert), but we were both quite full, and I was feeling just enough... off to think it a bad idea. If it had been warmer (and if I'd been feeling fine), we'd probably have walked around a little, but the wind had risen. The block to the car was quite enough outdoor time for both of us.
When we got home, Delia seemed fairly calm. From what I gather, our babysitters had a challenging time but no worse than I'd expected (easier, in fact, than I'd feared). Delia did realize after a while that her parents were nowhere around and did get upset, but judicious application of familiar DVDs seems to have kept her from full blown freak out.
