The air in our basement actually isn't all that bad. It's quite dry. The main problems for me are the temperature and the dust. Cleaning frequently might be more useful than cabinets. Of course, cabinets would probably be easier to keep clean...
And I'm glad that my friends understand the emotional comfort that can come from owning books. ::grins::
