the_rckI've finished the first draft of the fic that's due on Friday. It really ought to be about twice as long and have several more things happening, but I don't see any way that I'll have time to write those parts and to rewrite any of it. I'm choosing to aim for an okay complete story with at least one rewrite rather than an incomplete story with no rewrites that might manage to meet my standards better if I were able to complete it and rewrite it as it needs.
Now I'm just waiting on a beta before starting the rewrite. I hope that she'll have time to take a look today because having more time for the rewrite would be a Good Thing. I'm glad that she's agreed to try. The time crunch and the fact that I've no idea who's who in the exchange makes finding betas harder this time out.
I'm going to spend the afternoon trying to name the dratted thing. That's a necessary step and something that doesn't require waiting for the beta. Of course, I hate naming stories. I find it hard to do well and consider it important enough that doing it badly isn't appealing.
