I don't generally get plot bunnies for fandoms without something stimulating it-- a prompt from someone else, a bit of pondering about what would make interesting fic in that fandom, a dream, an urge to write and having that canon handy, a conversation, someone else's fic. That means that I'm fairly confident that I can manage *something* if I know the source material and don't hate it.
Of course, I also tend to extreme poly-fannishness.
