Jul. 13th, 2012 02:30 pmI have over 600 words on my Narnia fic, and I haven't even started the part that will fit the prompt. I hope I can get to that part. At least being too short won't be an issue.
The ten month old has warmed up to the other adults in the family (for some reason, she was always okay with the kids, even letting them pick her up). She'll play with us quite happily and let us carry her when absolutely necessary. She's not at an age to cuddle with anyone but her mother (and that generally only long enough to nurse). She wants to be constantly on the move. She finds the stairs up to the loft fascinating but isn't generally willing to go up more than two or three steps. That's just as well as she needs supervision when she goes higher. She can't get back down the full staircase.
Last night, we roasted marshmallows at the fire pit and made s'mores. It may be heresy, but I think I prefer plain toasted marshmallow to s'mores.
Delia hasn't managed a night in the loft yet, and she only has one more chance. She's simply too scared to be that far away from us. She says she's afraid she won't be able to sleep and that she'll need us in the middle of the night and won't be able to find us. She also said it's too dark up there. It's no darker than the room we've been using, but I guess that's okay with us in the next bed.
I'm looking forward to being home. This bed hurts a lot. I've rigged up some pillows that help, but I'm sleeping poorly due to pain. I also haven't been able to find a place to sit that doesn't hurt my tailbone. I miss my own bed and my own couch.
We head home tomorrow. We'll be going quite early because we need to get Scott's brother and his family to the airport in Grand Rapids by 9:30. It's not quite two hours to there from here. Scott's sister and her family will stay to do the clean up and checking out stuff while we and Scott's parents provide transportation to the airport.
Right now, everybody's at the beach. They went to a nearby state park (at least, I think it's a state park). I opted to stay in because I don't swim in lakes. My hope is to get more writing done while I'm here alone and can play music.
I've barely left the house since we arrived. I haven't even ventured to the pool. I haven't wanted to. At least Scott and Delia are having a grand time. Delia loves playing with her cousins (even the baby), and Scott so rarely gets time with his brother. This is good for both of them.

Date: 2012-07-14 02:00 am (UTC)It wouldn't really work well anyway. Scott needs his c-pap to sleep, and I'd be in incredible pain trying to sleep in the loft. A firm mattress is agony enough
