yuletide fandoms. I ran into a little trouble finding information about one of the fandoms I wanted to nominate, Condor Hero. There are multiple versions, and I've only seen one. I decided to trust Netflix and the IMDB about which version I saw. I felt shaky on Netflix because I'm pretty sure that the date on the sleeves was different from the date on the website. The IMDB is frustrating because almost none of the actors have photos up. Wikipedia has a huge article on the 2006 version but doesn't have even a stub for the 2001 version. The 2001 version also doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere in the article on the actor who supposedly starred. The difficulties of competing transliteration systems and varying names for the actors also play into this.
Of course, if I request Condor Hero fic, how likely am I to actually get it? I may have spent forty-five minutes researching something that will never matter again. Then again, the boxed set of the series is currently (relatively) cheap at DeepDiscountDVD. I've been eying it and telling myself that it's only a little more than a dollar per forty minute episode. I could buy it and offer to *write* it. Then again, that might be really, really stupid since the subtitles are crappy and my grasp of either Cantonese or Mandarin utterly non-existent.
I didn't actually check to be sure that Condor Hero's small enough before nominating it. An after-the-fact LJ check turned up no dedicated communities and only thirteen people listing it as an interest. I'm not finding any fic via Google, either.
I used my other nomination slots for Ayatsuri Sakon, Planet Ladder, Sky High, Babylon 5 and The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne. I'm sure that I'll request the first three. Sky High, as a movie, is my fallback fandom, the one that can probably match easily for a pinch hit if one's needed. People are sometimes willing to pinch hit for a fandom new to them if it's short and easy to get. Sky High qualifies on both counts.
