That may be the way we end up going. It kills our plan for a modular couch that runs for most of two walls. We wanted everything to match and to have a piece we could remove every year to make room for the Christmas tree.
It will also mean switching where I sit. The couch that we're stuck with can't go anywhere else but where it currently is (has to do with which piece has a side). That means major changes in our habits of TV watching, outlet use and so on. Neither of us want to do that. Cordelia's also likely to voice strenuous objections. She's pretty conservative about where people sit.
I wish there'd been a way to use the couch for a few hours before buying it. Fifteen minutes with a floor model really tells one nothing.
