This is very, very, very frustrating. I desperately need about ten hours of writing time. We have errands, time consuming errands with time constraints, that must be run. Last night was our actual anniversary. Scott is so sick that he's barely upright.

He can barely manage a whisper and is coughing a lot. He needs to sleep so that he's well enough to go to work on Tuesday (he has Monday off as a vacation day, the one bit of our hoped for trip to Origins that he could get off). I don't know if we're going to get everything done, and I can't do most of it without help.

We absolutely must have new dining room chairs by the time Scott's gaming group meets on Wednesday. The ones we have are on their last legs, and another one broke last week so that we're two chairs short of being able to seat all the participants. Three other chairs are the same make and could go at any time (we had six originally). Even a mildly fidgety person could make one collapse.

Our plan is to get new chairs from IKEA. If we have to, Scott can pick them up on his way home from work, but that will mean dealing with a small child meltdown over Cordelia not getting the chance to go to IKEA (she loves the play area and keeps asking when we can go back).

That also means that I can't run the errand I have nearby. I want to go to the store in Plymouth that sells bras and swimsuits and see about getting fitted for a swimsuit. I haven't owned one in about two decades and would like to have one before going to visit my grandmother in two weeks (I'd also like it because the outdoor pool at C.'s apartment complex doesn't set off my asthma. I'd like to have the option to wear something meant for water). I suspect that I'm going to need a two piece with the top and bottom in different sizes.

We must get out to Briarwood soon. One of our laptop power cords has gone bad to the point that we can't use it. It doesn't reliably connect to feed in power, and it heats up right where it joins to the laptop. Right now, we're sharing one cord for two laptops. I'm afraid, though, that this is a normal wear and tear issue which would mean that the other cord is due to fail any time now.

The lawn needs mowing. That can be put off. It will make Scott cranky, but the house won't fall down if things get shaggier, and none of our neighbors are going to bang on the door demanding that we fix it now.

Grocery shopping must be done.

A trip to the library needs to happen tomorrow (when my holds expire and the DVDs are due).

The basement must be cleaned. I'm probably going to have to do that solo and just live with the risk (or actuality) of hurting myself. It has to be done, and it's going to take hours.

I'd like to get out and buy some more shirts that fit. That's another before-the-trip thing. I'd like to go to Marshall's and do it soon enough that I can go again before the trip if I don't find anything much that's useful.

I'd like to go out to get replacement plants for those that died due to the dish soap. On the plus side, the beetles seem to be gone. The sage is surviving and may well come back fine. The winter savory looks pathetic. All the dill is gone. The planters never got hit by the beetles, but the dill there died anyway, even without the soap.

Our washing machine probably needs repairs. It's not spinning as well as it used to so that clothes are coming out wetter than they should be. They're not sopping, but it's possible to wring water out of them, and they're heavier. I'm expecting that problem to get worse and was hoping that, while we were at Briarwood, we could at least eyeball a replacement. Scott has wanted a more energy efficient washer and dryer for quite a while, and, while repair is probably cheaper than replacement (and still possible), I want numbers in hand so that we can talk about it.

We want to put ceiling fans in our bedroom and in Cordelia's bedroom. Sadly, due to the placement of the support beams, this is not a simple process. Our light fixture is being held up entirely by the wallboard (wallboard is not the same as drywall for those who're wondering), and that won't support a fan. We don't know for sure about Cordelia's light fixture yet. This means that putting in fans will require going into the attic, digging through the fiberglass insulation, laying in new supports just for the fans and then fastening everything securely. It's something that would have been better done in April or May.

I don't know when the fic's going to get written. Cordelia keeps gluing herself to me and reading over my shoulder. That's also why further updates to the DW archive are going to have to wait. I've reached the fics that I don't want her looking at and can only work in five to ten minute stretches when she's distracted (that's too short for me to write in, sadly, but I can tag prose for posting in those gaps).

I know where I should start-- Things will look better after I eat something. A hunk of cheese and a mug of coffee might be enough to keep the headache back, but it's not enough to let me plan anything.

Anybody local who can offer help with any of this-- even the loan of folding chairs for Wednesday would help immensely-- please let me know. I can probably find a way to deal with the groceries and the library, but the rest is beyond me.
