I have no idea what meds he was taking. I didn't ask, and he didn't volunteer. Probability tilts toward one of them being a cholesterol control medication or something otherwise to promote heart/vascular health. The other might be something else in the same vein or might be an allergy medication. I don't think he has other issues at present (but, again, I wouldn't know for sure. We don't talk often and hadn't seen each other for several years).
