Dear Yuletide Writer

Thank you for being willing to write one of my rare fandoms. I love all three of these canons, so I'll be happy with whichever one we happen to match on.

I'll read gen, het, and M/M or F/F slash, but I'm tending more toward gen these days. I'll read any pairing (or none!) and also threesomes and moresomes. For these three fandoms, I'd rather not get a particularly sexually explicit fic-- I'm interested in other things for Planet Ladder (and Kaguya is too young) and Shamanic Princess, and I don't think sex makes sense for "Helen All Alone."

I like crossovers, but I may not be familiar with big, popular fandoms that most everybody has seen or read (I don't know Supernatural, White Collar, Sherlock or Merlin, for example. I do know Doctor Who (though I prefer old Who to new), Eureka and Warehouse 13. If you look at the recs on my website, you'll have a better idea of what fandoms I know. I haven't updated the recs in years, though, so more recent fandoms won't be reflected there.), and I'm not sure how a crossover with any of my requests would work. I like time travel. I like character explorations and five things stories. I like missing scenes and stories that expand on the backstory. I don't mind angst, but I like to see the pain buy something, even if it's just character growth. I like divergent AUs, the sort where one event or detail is different and the changes ripple out from there.

I don't like zombies, vampires or unicorns. Horror in general is not my cup of tea (I'll make an exception if you want to write a "Helen All Alone" story dealing with the Horror Passing Speech. That I'm interested in). I don't like transplant AUs (the type where everybody's in a rock band or is a fire fighter or whatever). I'm deeply uncomfortable with RPF of all types if it involves people currently alive or alive during living memory. My feelings on historical RPF depend heavily on how it's handled. I'd prefer to avoid incest or mpreg. Child harm is something I can't handle, and I don't want to read about underage sex.

I don't particularly care if the story is in the style of canon as long as the characters are recognizably themselves. Sometimes a change in style gives an entirely new view of characters or events.

My specific requests:

Helen All Alone - Rudyard Kipling (any) - This poem leaves me with so many questions. What is the Horror Passing Speech? Why are the narrator and Helen damned? What is Limbo Gate and how do they escape it? How do Helen and the narrator reach Earth and what exactly do they do once they're there? Is it strange to them? How easily do they pass for normal? Are they safe once they've reached Earth or are they still being hunted? An answer to any of these questions would delight me. The poem can be found here: http://www.poetryloverspage.com/poets/kipling/helen_all_alone.html

Planet Ladder (any) - One of the things I loved when reading Planet Ladder was how there seemed to be more story behind everything, more than what we were actually given. I'd love to see some of those details. Bamvivrie is a particular favorite of mine, but I really did mean 'any' when I signed up that way. I don't want to miss out on a Planet Ladder story by specifying a character, and I don't mind seeing characters I didn't nominate. I'm interested in backstory or missing scenes here, but I wouldn't say no to future fic or just about anything else. There's not much out there, and I've been asking for fic for Planet Ladder for many, many years now.

Shamanic Princess (any) - I'm curious as to why the Throne of Yord is so important and as to what the changes to it mean for the Guardian World. I wonder what the partners think of their bonds with magic users-- Do they volunteer? Do they have a choice about who to serve? Do they miss their own world? I'd love to know what happens to Tiara, Lena or Kagetsu after canon or how they came to have the relationships they started with. I don't mind a story focusing on a character not nominated. I was relatively random in selecting characters to nominate.

I am curious what a Five Things story is.
