(no subject)

We bought a couch and loveseat on Saturday. The trip to IKEA led us to conclude that they had nothing that would work, so we went to Art Van. There, we found several things that I thought would work. We ended up with a model called the Hancock. It reclines, so Scott will still have somewhere for his early morning naps.

I'm just praying that this one will work and won't be another expensive mistake. I sat on it for a good twenty minutes at the store and had no pain from it. I hope that's enough.

The couch will arrive some time on Wednesday. We'll spend part of Tuesday moving the remaining pieces of the Tylosand couch to the basement and cleaning so that the space for the new stuff is clear. Wednesday morning won't be fun for any of us as there will be nowhere to sit but the floor, but we'll get by. I just wish I knew now what our delivery window will be. I want to know if I need to make arrangements for someone to drop Cordelia off at school or to pick her up afterward.

Now we just have to list and sell the old couch. Scott wants to hold off on listing it until after we have the new one. I understand that intellectually, but emotionally I want it over. I'm going to be freaking out over the whole thing until it's done. I can't even think about the holidays right now.

Oh hey, I remember Art Van's! I wish we had someone like them out here. To me, all the of the "good" furniture shops looks like you need to show a paycheck to walk in there. So YAY! new couch! OOOoooo, it's really pretty and plush and looks oh-so-comfy. It reclines, too? Wow. Awesome. I hope this makes your poor tailbone/knee/leg thing better -- or at least lets you not set it off quite as much! ♥

I'm hopeful. I'm just finding the transition difficult. Tomorrow will be no fun at all, especially the early morning when it's me and Cordelia in the living room with no place to cuddle but the floor. Scott has suggested bringing in dining room chairs, but there's no way to cuddle on those.

Um, after the horror stories about Art Van that were posted on Arborparents a few years ago, I find the place pretty scary. So I really hope that this works out for you, but I am worried.

I'll try calling IKEA again on Wednesday morning. (My older kids are off school tomorrow, so I don't expect much free time then.)

We got the old blue couch, the one before the current IKEA one, from Art Van. I'll just be keeping my fingers crossed. Literally nothing at IKEA was more than mediocre for me to sit on, so we didn't see many options. The lows at Art Van in terms of comfort were the highs for IKEA.

At this point, I don't think there's much to be done on the IKEA end of things. Don't feel obligated to call.

Whew -- I am glad that Art Van has worked out for you in the past, and that their sofas seem to be working out to be more comfortable than the IKEA ones. I would like to try calling IKEA one more time, but then if that doesn't go anywhere I will give it up.
