I'm not getting LJ comments at the moment, so if you leave a comment for me, particularly on an older entry, I may not know about it.

You may already have seen it, but in case you haven't: LJ made an administrative posting yesterday saying that e-mail notifications of comments are currently broken, but that they are storing the info and will catch up on the e-mails once they fix their bug.

I like that they're storing up the missing notifications and will eventually send them.

Me too. I just heard about http://www.livejournal.com/tools/recent_comments.bml, which supposedly will show you all of them even if notifications aren't going out; I think I'll start checking that regularly.

It is, but bear in mind they do not consider a comment "received" unless it is in your journal, so it won't show replies to your comments in other journals.
