Nov. 5th, 2014 08:13 amI did my link finding yesterday in the morning. After I finished that, I made brownies. The three kids I had in the house apparently didn't notice me doing it. I'd have thought they'd smell the brownies baking, if nothing else, but they said nothing. I also put bread in the machine. That came out poorly. I must have mismeasured either the flour or the water. The loaf came out with a concave top.
The other kids' mother sent spaghetti with a small amount of beef for lunch. She sent way more than the three kids could eat. After I'd served them, it hardly looked like we'd taken anything out of the bowl. I heated that on the stove because Cordelia's friend told me that her mother had recommended against using the microwave (for fear of burning the pasta, I think).
After lunch, around 1:00, we walked to Arrowwood so that I could vote. I definitely need to do more walking. My shins were complaining five minutes into the walk, and the kids were about half a block ahead of me. We did have to walk in the street for part of the way between our house and the busy street. Somebody along there was having their sewer line replaced.
The wait to vote wasn't particularly bad. I was about fourth in line, and it took five to ten minutes for a station to open up for me to fill out my ballot (we use scantron ballots). Actually filling out the ballot took only a few minutes. I didn't vote for any of the judges who were running unopposed because I knew nothing about any of them. They can win without my vote.
They had called the senate race for Gary Peters, the Democrat, before I went to bed last night. I was a bit surprised by that given that only twenty percent of the votes were counted. Rick Snyder, the incumbent Republican, won the race for governor. Both wolf hunting proposals went down by fairly large margins. The vote on the Whitmore Lake annexation looked close to me, but the majority were against it. There weren't any real surprises in the local elections. Both judge candidates I backed lost.
Scott was expecting to go in to work early this morning, but they called about 10:40 to say that he didn't have to come in until his usual time. That was nice. Scott desperately needed the extra sleep. He's feeling pretty miserable with his cold, and the congestion means that his bi-PAP doesn't work as well.
I've got to get moving on the LARP for UCon. I have the characters and most of the background information printed (there's an awful lot of background. Nobody's going to have time to read it all). Scott wants to find a copy shop for the rest of the background sheets (I used a full ink cartridge printing what I printed). I need that done before I can put together the character folders. The part I should start with now is reading the characters and making notes as to which characters rely on which others to be playable. I'll be lucky to get fifteen players, and there are twenty characters.
