My Saturday Amber game was a bit stressful because I'd expected to have five of the six players (Justin being out of town) but ended up with only three of the six (Michael and Lisa didn't come. It was the 10th anniversary of his mother's death. I could understand, but I wish he'd managed to give me a little more notice. Lisa called three hours before game time and told me then. Michael had sent me an e-mail at 3am which I hadn't yet seen). That made the stuff I'd originally planned to run unworkable. I was going to give the characters time to talk to each other and to the major non-player characters in a social setting so that they could get a feel for each other, but all of the player characters were involved in that scene. I skipped over it and improvised something more active for the trio who were present. I'll run the social stuff next session.
On Sunday, Scott suggested some book shopping. We went to Borders. I picked up several things that I'd wanted for a while but kept things within our agreed budget. I got the following:
Eccentric Circles by Rebecca Lickiss.
Agent of Vega & Other Stories by James H. Schmitz.
Fushigi Yugi v.3: Disciple by Yu Watase.
A Feral Darkness by Doranna Durgin.
Prophecy by Elizabeth Haydon.
dRaGoN bOnEs by Patricia Briggs.
Ask Anyone by Sherryl Woods.
The Dark Glory War by Michael A. Stackpole.
Scott picked up the latest Dilbert book. Books are not his vice, so he wasn't really tempted (as I was) to buy and buy. He is, however, looking with great longing at various computer catalogsā¦
We also rented a movie, Seven Samurai. One of Scott's coworkers has been urging him to watch it for the last couple of years, even going so far as to lend him the tapes for copying. Scott lost his copies before he watched them and didn't want to admit to having done so.
