Friday, I sent Scott off to bed early. He was falling asleep on the couch, and I told him he'd be much happier doing it in bed. He grumbled quite a bit, and I told him he could consider it a nap and get up again later. I tucked him in and let him sleep. I'd hoped that LunarGeography might be able to come over (her husband was still off work, but she'd mentioned that he planned to watch hockey), but she'd been ill. The medication she'd been taking in an effort to keep her cough from getting worse left her a bit too out of things to drive.

Scott did go by Sam's Club on his way home from work on Friday. He found me a paraffin bath for only $50. It's big enough that he'll be able to use it too if he ever needs to do so. I got it going (which took forever!) because I'd done too much knitting, and my left hand was aching horribly. The heat felt wonderful. We now need to find a place for the thing to live permanently (It's in the living room right now), and I need to figure out how to use the timer so that I don't have it running all of the time. I mostly will need it in the evenings, at least until it gets really cold again. Then I'll have to see where I can buy paraffin. I don't expect finding it to be hard; I just haven't looked at all yet. The company that made our bath claims to sell "aromatherapy" paraffin, the thought of which rather scares me.

We cleaned the refrigerator on Saturday before our friends showed up for gaming. It took both of our coolers to hold the contents of both compartments. I used Simple Green and hot water to scrub the freezer and all of the removable parts. I also did the door of the lower compartment. After that, I had to ask Scott to take over because I was getting shaky with exhaustion. The fridge didn't start smelling better immediately, but it's gradually improved. We no longer have to make a health check every time we open the door. We didn't have to throw out very much food; the problem was largely the nastiness that hid under the drawers at the bottom and fragments of crud adhering to other surfaces.
