Apr. 15th, 2002 03:55 pmWe've now got the e-mail and DSL problems straightened out. I don't entirely understand what was going on, but for a little while, I still had to dial in to get my e-mail and had to go back to Netscape 4.7 in order to make it work. I've got a lot of messages that I need to deal with that ended up in a kind of limbo due to my switching back and forth. My goal is to start dealing with them soon, but I keep finding things that catch my attention and distract me from my good intentions. Perhaps now that the LARP is out of the way, I'll manage a bit better.
My brother sent me a message telling me that he got his Easter candy about three days after I mailed it. I haven't heard from my sister yet. He hasn't heard yet about whether or not he'll get into school here. He mentioned that he's once again feeling disillusioned with his favorite baseball team; I plan to nod and smile a bit. Baseball never caught my attention, so I don't really understand. Watching the game always makes me think of the agonies I endured in gym class-- My eyes can't track a ball moving toward me, be it a baseball or a softball, in that particular plane.
I called my parents on Sunday the 7th and came in on a bit of an argument between my mother and step-father. I don't know what precisely was going on because it sounded out of proportion to me. He was the one that answered the phone, and he asked me if I'd heard how things went at my cousin's wedding on the 23rd. My mother'd mentioned a bit in an e-mail. My step-father started telling me in a joking tone that my mother had set the table on fire, and she kind of blew up at him. She wasn't on the phone, but I could still hear her as she told him, with some anger, that that was not true, that she didn't want him repeating that story. It sounded to me like the sort of thing that my step-father always says, so I'm wondering if there was more going on. I didn't get to talk to her because she went out in the yard and started weeding while I was still talking to my step-father. Which is, of course, another reason I think more was going on. She hasn't called me back, either.
