May. 14th, 2002 02:26 pmI got home about 11:30. Scott should have been in bed by then given that he had to get up at 5am to get ready for work. I'd kind of thought that Jeff might be in bed too but had less of an opinion about that since I knew he didn't have to be up until 8am. Instead, it took about another hour to get everybody ready to sleep and into bed. I was torn between wanting to try to get adequate sleep (expecting to get up at 7am myself) and wanting to read one of my new books so that I'd feel like something good happened. I ended up compromising by reading the first couple of chapters of Jenna Starborn.
Morning came much too early. I didn't absolutely have to be up until 8am, but my alarm goes off at 7am every morning so that I can take my meds. That timing's less crucial now that I'm not taking oral contraceptives, but I try to get my other stuff as close as I can to the same time every day. At any rate, I got up at 7 and started trying to figure out what I was going to wear. I used one of those drier dry cleaning set ups on three different outfits; that took half an hour during which time I did my e-mail.
Eventually, I laid all three outfits (two dresses and a shirt/skirt combo) on the bed and considered. They're all rather flimsy, and I knew the weather was nasty (cold and rainy) and that I'd be around a baby and a three year old all day. I figured that the three year old probably wouldn't come close enough to threaten what I was wearing since he doesn't even want to hug me on meeting or farewell (He doesn't want to do that with anybody he doesn't know fairly well, so I'm not insulted). The baby on the other hand… I resolved that by packing clothing I could wear after the church service.
I ended up wearing the skirt and shirt outfit. It's dark blue with a pattern of white flowers. I wore stretch pants underneath after checking that they didn't change the fall of the skirt particularly. I even wore a bra (I don't normally because they hurt. In my opinion, in most clothing, wearing or not wearing a bra doesn't change how I look, so I'm not generally willing to deal with the discomfort just for social convention). I wore my hair down but wore jewelry in it (A few years back I bought a couple of things made of black wire and silvery ornaments that were supposed to be bracelets and hooked them together to make a circlet. I wear it with my hair through it so that it shows on top of my head and then goes behind my ears and under my hair. I have an actual circlet made of copper wire with amethyst, but that seemed less appropriate for this occasion).

Date: 2002-05-15 07:56 am (UTC)I'm not sure how clean that really gets things, but it seems to work okay for items that mainly need cleaning because they smell like they've been worn a few times. I heard about it from a friend who used it on her interview suit between interviews and thought I might as well try it.
