LunarGeography gave me a gift certificate for Wizzywig for my birthday. I used it to get the first Cowboy Bebop DVD and to pay for part of the first Trigun DVD. I thought I'd get one I knew I wanted and one I'd never seen. That worked out pretty well except that it breaks the ice on buying anime, something I'd pretty much avoided before this. Wizzywig's new location works for me much better than its old one (They just moved). The old place was a walkup, and I had trouble with the stairs. It was also on the opposite side of campus from anything that normally visit. The new location is on the first floor and only about two blocks from the bus stop I use when going home from many doctor appointments (or alternatively, about the same distance from the downtown city bus station) and between the clinic I go to and the bus stop. They rent anime for $1.50 per day, and I've been working my way through a few things. (Recommendations welcome!)

I'm in the process of sketching in the character plots for my new game. I'm not as far along as I'd like, but I'm getting there. I expect I'll get a lot done in the next few days. We do actually have housing for GenCon now, so I'll have to have the game done in order to run it. I'm having some difficulties with the framework because there are so many completely alien assumptions required to make the society work and so many things that seem obvious to modern western minds that just don't work at all in 4th Dynasty Egypt. I'm going to have to explain how a complex society could function without a legal code. I have to work around the assumption that certain deities are evil and that those who worship them must be as well.

I finally got us housing for GenCon by going around the guy we had been dealing with. He was in charge of events and, by extension, for housing for GM groups. I got results by going to the woman in charge of housing (who was the one who'd originally referred me to the other guy). She had a room for us the next day. In our first choice hotel. A nonsmoking room. We're going to be sharing with some folks from Infinite Imaginations, Inc. who we don't know, but I don't think it'll be a big problem. I still have to call the hotel and get their names on the reservations (we put down LunarGeography and her husband as place holders).

Wow, does that make me an anime pusher?

And think of writing the background for this LARP as a warm-up for doing what Scott suggested, and doing an Utena LARP. Come on, you know you want to.... 8^)
