Is anyone considering doing Camp NaNoWriMo? I’m thinking about it, but I’m only really interested if I can do it with some folks I know. I don’t really find NaNoWriMo goals particularly helpful in a vacuum, but I do find communities helpful. I’m just not certain that joining a cabin with random strangers will be useful in the same way. It might be, but it might also just be stress that keeps me from writing at all.

If I do it, I’ll probably set a goal of about 25000 words for April. That’s a stretch for me but still within the realm of the possible as long as the month doesn’t go sideways the way March has.

I think I am definitely doing Camp NaNo but I don't think I want to participate in the cabins. I am most certainly not participating in the forums (if I am going to be accused of being abusive when what I am trying to do is patiently explain that the other party is being racist...because calling someone racist is worse than behaving in a racist manner, is iirc the actual thing the mod told me...yeah fuck that noise), and I might not even use their word count tracker gizmo.

Though at that point of non-engagement with Camp proper, can one even say it's Camp NaNo, rather than simply setting oneself a 10K word count goal for the month of April?

I ended up saying that I'd take a cabin assignment with strangers, based on age and type of project. I figure that, if any of them rub me the wrong way, I just won't bother.

The business with the forums sounds rage inducing. I think I'm going to stick with my previous policy of not even looking at them.

I have very conflicted feelings about that. I mean, on the one hand I'd like to get back into writing every day, and making progress on my projects, and on the other hand, the last few times I tried happened at the same time as depressive episodes, so I failed them and it wasn't good. (Also, there tends to be a lot of drama on the French side of the NaNo forums...)

I've been afraid to look at the forums. Partly, I'm afraid of drama, and partly I'm afraid of them as a time sink. Goodness knows I do plenty of catwaxing anyway...
