Jan. 21st, 2013 01:52 pmMy mammogram appointment went a lot faster than expected. I had no waiting to speak of and was out of the building about fifteen minutes after they called me in. They had said, repeatedly, to expect the process to take at least an hour and possibly as long as an hour and a half. This was nothing like that.
My sister-in-law gave me a ride to the appointment. From there, she planned to take the girls bowling. When I called to say my appointment was over, my SIL said they'd just arrived at the bowling alley. I told her I'd take the bus home as it's not a big deal from the cancer center at the hospital. There's a bus stop right across the street.
Hopefully, Cordelia will have fun bowling. She's never been before unless we count the bowling night in her schools gym (a PTO fundraiser). That had no gutters, very short alleys and lightweight balls. I'll have to offer my SIL some money to help cover the costs. I should have done it before we left, but I wasn't thinking. Even if I had thought, I might not have offered because I don't like going out of the house without some cash in hand, just in case. I've never needed it, but I think it's good to have $20 on hand. (Right now, the main thing I use cash for is Cordelia's lunches. It's $20 for eight lunches. When she starts middle school, I'll have to figure out the online payment system and accept the transaction fees involved. I've been resisting that. I suppose I should experiment with it next year so that I know how it works.)
