I'm in the process of weaning off of the carisoprodol. I've been taking half a tablet a night for a week now. I'm not clear as to what the next step is. I'm either supposed to go to half a tablet every other day or just stop altogether. (I started at two tablets a night, so we've come quite a distance.) I haven't experienced any withdrawal symptoms, so I'm inclined toward stopping altogether. The previous two times I stopped this medication, I did it cold turkey and experienced no trouble. I don't see why this should be different.
The major difference I'm noticing on the reduced dose is difficulty falling back asleep, and that might just be chance. I also don't think it's something that can safely be treated. Scott's alarm goes off at 5:20. I get up and take my thyroid medication then go back to bed. I'm having trouble falling back asleep after that, but anything that would help that close to getting up is likely to leave me groggy when my alarm goes off. I really don't want that.
I have had some nights of being awake long after I turn out the lights. That's not unusual, so I haven't called my doctor about something to help me sleep. I mean, it might not be a bad idea in some ways because spending more of the night asleep would be a good thing, but I suspect that I wouldn't like the side effects.
