Our cable's been out since some time Tuesday night. I've called Comcast and done their online support chat. They won't even give me an estimate as to when service will be restored. They did robo call me this morning, claiming that service had been restored. I reported the outage again so that they don't think it's all solved. My guess is that we'll be without cable all weekend (I'm not betting on them working the weekend to restore service). I think we'll have to ask them to prorate our bill.

Wednesday evening, we went to Blue Nile for Scott's birthday dinner. Blue Nile is an all you can eat Ethiopian place. The food is quite good. You eat with your hands, tearing up bits of spongy flat bread to pick up mouthfuls of food from a shared tray. I think, next time we go, we'll get the vegetarian option. It's a couple of dollars cheaper per person. We can't have the beef because of Scott's allergy, they no longer include the lamb in the price of a standard dinner, and we simply don't eat much of the chicken. We're too busy eating the other dishes.

Yesterday, Scott cleared the sidewalks. Today, they were a solid sheet of ice because the water left behind when he cleared the snow froze. Getting Cordelia to school was an adventure. I managed to keep my balance for the most part and caught myself before I hit the ground the one time I really slipped.

I think I've nearly finished chapter 21 of Rheotaxis. It's with my beta readers for a second round because I added a few hundred words to the end. If they're happy with it, I'll post it. I'm about 1200 words into chapter 22. So far, it's flowing nicely. I have two sections that I need to research and then go back and write. One bit, I need to check for internal consistency. The other is going to require more research. I need to figure out what books one of the characters would own. I know the general genres (poetry, classics, historical non-fiction, biography), but I know nothing about Japanese books.

Our webserver is once again appearing on our local network. For a couple of months, it simply didn't. It was still operating. We could get to our websites via the internet. We just couldn't edit them. I thought that all that needed to happen was to reboot the webserver, but I don't actually know which box is which in the study, and Scott kept forgetting. Then we lost power for about half an hour on Monday, and when it was restored, the webserver was back on the network. I've updated my website with my most recent three fics.
