Nov. 13th, 2017 10:10 pmWell, long day is long. I managed not to eat anything this morning or to drink anything but water before going in for the blood draw (I drank a lot of water). I kept my bite splint in until Cordelia left for school because having it there reminded me not to eat.
I started out waiting on the wrong side of the street for the bus I wanted because I hadn't been able to persuade the bus website to cough up an actual map of the route. I had the impression that it went to north campus and from there through medical campus to central campus when it actually goes in the opposite direction. Fortunately, I figured it out when I saw people waiting at the stop across the street. They started arriving less than ten minutes after bus that goes downtown went by, and there's only one of those every 30 minutes, so I figured they weren't waiting for that.
I ended up going to Espresso Royale to get coffee. I ate some carrots, almonds, and dried apricots while I was there but saved my sandwich. I don't know that they'd have said anything, but they do sell sandwiches, so I didn't want to pull that out.
I did a little bit of Ingress after that. I could only do things if I was close enough to a university building to pick up the guest wifi. The signal is really terrible anywhere outside, so it kept going in and out. I ended up doing less than I had wanted to. I hit a lot of portals, but I couldn't do as much with them as I wanted to. I probably managed only 1/3 as many points as I would have if my connection had been working properly.
The appointment went okay. My blood pressure was lower than it has been for the last couple of years. It's never gone higher than the middle of normal range, so this is no particular triumph in terms of better health. Both thyroid tests were good.
I had been thinking to go to Totoro for lunch, but I had eaten half of my sandwich while waiting for my doctor, so I wasn't particularly hungry. Instead, I walked up Huron and managed a bit more Ingress. I walked for almost an hour and a half before I reached the end of what I could get to that was new-to-me and within range of university guest wifi. It was sad because I was right on top of five new to me portals and couldn't hack any of them because, once I was out of range of the wifi, I couldn't see them any more. Also, if I had been able to see them, it's taking upwards of twenty minutes for hacks to process without the wifi, so I probably wouldn't have had the stamina for it.
I got a burger at a diner near a stop for the bus I wanted to catch to go home. It wasn't a bad burger, but I'd asked for it medium, and I'm not actually convinced it was thoroughly enough cooked for that label. The bus ended up arriving almost ten minutes after I expected it to, so I got home later than I thought I would (walking might have been faster, but I was kind of stumbling by the time I got to the bus stop).
My goal for this evening was to either write the remaining three characters for my UCon game (which I have to print Thursday evening) or start assigning numbers, both statistics and abilities, for all seven characters. Instead, I wrote essay length answers to comments.
So. Um. Tomorrow must be for UCon prep.
