Nov. 16th, 2017 02:26 pmI think I have one character absolutely complete. I want to run it by Scott to see if he thinks the numbers are off or the system too handwavy (let's face it-- He's definitely going to think the system's too handwavy).
Also, I'm trying to figure out how healing should work when I'm not sure how much time the game will cover and have very little feel for how often the characters will get hurs and how much damage will be involved. The system I know best for assigning stats is my LARP system, and that's run in real time (as much as possible), so I can say that a character gets back 10 points every fifteen minutes or something of the sort.
The character I'm working on now just presented me with a contradiction that I may have to resolve by deleting something I gave them as an extra simply because I don't want to work out how to power it. I suppose I could just make it completely involuntary and have it happen when I want it to, but if I do that, I'll have to keep track of it without help from the player.
I've showered, washed three loads of laundry, and run the dishwasher today. I've been working on making lists of things I need to pack. I haven't tried to bring the suitcases upstairs yet because the cleaning lady is here and will be for the next 2-3 hours. I'd rather not try to pack in the bedroom because the only space large enough for it is the bed. Plus, I really can't pack the stuff that's going to take more time just yet. I'm mostly using list making to give myself mental breaks from the character work.
I really wish I hadn't procrastinated so very much. I have six characters to do numbers for and one to write from notes (this amounts to 2-4 paragraphs of world building/backstory. It shouldn't take more than about ten minutes once I get myself to start).
Naturally, what I really want to do right now is to write something iddy and self-indulgent. Sadly, I don't have the time to spare. I really ought not be writing this. I'm just hoping that writing it will give my brain a little time to decide about that character power I mentioned above.
