May. 29th, 2018 08:38 pmThe Sky High behemoth has passed 76K words. I keep coming up with new bits and bobs even as I desperately want it to be done. The bit I wrote today shifts the meaning of things I've already written that come after it. I'm too tired right at the moment to figure out whether or not any of those later bits need to be changed or added to.
We didn't do much yesterday. I listened to library CDs and tried to write. Scott and Cordelia went out to Barnes & Noble, and Scott put up a rack in the kitchen so that he could hang some pans over the stove. Those are just barely within my reach, and I haven't tried getting anything down yet. I'm almost certain that I won't be able to put anything back up there without a step stool. Scott doesn't understand that getting out a step stool is a serious barrier for me.
Scott also cleared the desk and desk chair in the basement so that I have the option of taking my laptop down there when it's too warm up here. I tried that this afternoon. I'm not sure that it's cooler down there than sitting on the bed with the ceiling fan going at high speed, but a chair and desk are better than the bed for laptop use.
I'm not sure what to do about the fact that I can't handle being in the living room for very long right now. It's not going to get cooler as we get into summer. I made it through a short-ish movie yesterday, but I was really miserable by the end of it. We don't have anywhere else where Scott and I can watch things together.
I have library books due this weekend that can't be renewed. They're both things that I had thought could be, so I haven't started reading them yet. One is a novella and so more possible to finish even if I get distracted. The other is much longer, but I read an excerpt online a while back and very much want to read the rest. I've got one book due the weekend after next, but I'm not worried about finishing that one because it's very straightforward. It's by one of those authors who does three romances a year and rings changes on the same plot for all of them.
