Fic Announcement
Jun. 15th, 2018 08:16 amTitle: Intent on Its Angles
Fandom: Sky High (2005)
Rating: T
Length: 33044 words (7 chapters)
Characters/Pairings: Warren Peace, Layla Williams, Ethan, Zach, Magenta, Will Stronghold
Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Alternate Universe - Dark, Villain Warren Peace, Captivity, PTSD, Unreliable narrator, Emotional manipulation, Past telepathic child abuse, references to suicide
Notes: Threatened violence. 14 year olds thinking about sex, suicide, and murder. Actual but non-graphic and off-screen murder. This is the story with a more or less happy ending. Will is only in one chapter, but's the POV character there, so I thought I'd better tag for him.
Summary: Layla kind of hated having to hope that all Warren wanted was pets because that meant admitting that it was up to him. Everything that happened-- or didn't-- was at the whim of a fifteen year old boy who'd decided he wanted them based on a week's acquaintance.
She supposed it wouldn't matter much to her or her friends if Warren destroyed them accidentally or deliberately, just how much it hurt getting there.
Intent on Its Angles on AO3.
Series, Not Ready to Swallow Oblivion on AO3.
Title: Would Feed on Ashes
Fandom: Sky High (2005)
Rating: T/M (on the border)
Length: 13166 words
Characters/Pairings: Warren Peace, Layla Williams, Ethan, Zach, Magenta
Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Alternate Universe - Dark, Villain Warren Peace, Captivity, PTSD, Unreliable narrator, Emotional manipulation, Past telepathic child abuse, references to suicide
Notes: This is the second story in the series. It's a divergent AU from the preceding story after Ethan's chapter, "Brave at the Shore." This one will make very little sense without having read all of "Intent on Its Angles."
Summary: Hiding what Layla could do only required two killings, and Warren managed both of them before his prisoners regained consciousness. His people had kept them unconscious long enough for Warren to wake and be able to think. Keeping Ethan under had been hard, apparently, but nobody bothered telling Warren that until he asked two weeks later.
One of the necessary murders was a woman named Jennifer Anglin who had been the one to strip Layla and Magenta while they were unconscious. She'd found seeds stuck to Layla's skin without any perceptible adhesive. If she'd put the pieces together and told one or the other of Warren's parents before telling Warren, she'd have survived.
As it was Warren simply had a tantrum. Later, when talking to his father, he put it down to after effects from having been poisoned and said that he'd lost control.
His father simply told him that, in the future, he should try to direct such things at less valuable people.
Would Feed on Ashes on AO3.
Series, Not Ready to Swallow Oblivion on AO3.
The other stories in the arc will be out some time during the next week. Given the medical crap yesterday, I've decided that I just need this off my plate. It's all less polished and less clear than I'd hoped to make it, but it's something that I can get out of my way while I wait for testing and results.
