Jul. 29th, 2018 02:01 pmThe most recent news Scott had this morning was that the surgery on his sister seemed to have done what it was meant to, but we'd gotten confusing updates because her husband being exhausted and not explaining things very clearly. There hasn't been anyone else consistently there and consistently informed who could take over passing on information.
Scott's parents will get back to Michigan some time later today. They left New Orleans yesterday morning. I can only assume that they didn't understand how serious this was because they didn't leave Friday (it's a conference for the Gideons, the folks who push free bibles on people. They could have left early) and because Scott's mother decided to drive with her husband rather than flying back. Google says it's about a sixteen hour drive, and they managed about ten yesterday.
I'd really have liked Scott's mother to be here because she could have done the passing along of information part.
Scott's brother who is in Seattle called this morning to urge Scott to get to the hospital as early as possible so that they could both know what was going on. Scott pointed out that surgery starting after midnight last night made it unlikely that going over early would find either their sister or her husband in any shape to talk. Scott's brother's wife, who is a surgeon, is currently in Korea. Our BIL has been texting Scott's brother who then texts his wife who texts back through the chain.
Last night, they were talking about maybe needing to transfer Scott's sister to either the University of Michigan Hospital or Henry Ford because St Joseph's was having trouble locating the bleeding and might, even after locating it, have trouble getting in to repair the problem.
Scott's there now and says that his sister seems to be doing better. She's in pain and is exhausted, but her blood pressure is up a good bit from where it was last night.
