I didn't sleep much last night. I ended up in the living room and really didn't manage to get comfortable out there. Once Scott and Cordelia leave, I'm going to try to sleep again. I may or may not manage it. I'm still pretty congested. At least the rest of the week is clear.

Tonight would normally be a game group night, but there's a UCon planning meeting tonight, so three of our four usual guests will be busy with that. With Scott still coughing terribly and me exhausted, I think we'd have wanted to cancel anyway.

Scott's mother's surgery has been scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving. I have no idea what that will do to the family plans. Scott's parents normally host Thanksgiving while his sister hosts Christmas. (We don't have sufficient space to host.) Scott's sister's family alternates Thanksgivings with her husband's family and with her parents. I can't recall which year this is. Possibly it doesn't matter because I can't imagine that Scott's mother is going to feel up to going anywhere or to having all of us for a prolonged visit even if we do all of the work.

We'll figure something out because we all will want to check in and see her, but that seems like something that should be brief and not involve an elaborate meal with fancy dishes and such.

Are you able to drink ginger tea? For inflammation and congestion I find that grating fresh ginger into hot water is a wonderful restorative. It does a process called thermogenesis which heats up the fat cells in our bodies, giving us a warming glow from within. It's also is a great way to neutralise our body's PH levels, as most people are too acidic as a result of diet, environmental factors, etc... In the winter months I find it essential as my arthritis flares up terribly in the damp English climate.

You can get fresh grated ginger in ice cube form. Asda (Walmart's UK subsidiary) stocks it and I'm sure a few other main supermarkets do too. Not sure how effective they are.
I do like the taste of the herbal tea bags, but I think by drying it it loses a lot of it's properties.
I think it's also a natural anti-depressant. Winter brings me down a lot. Britain basically lives without sunlight during the winter months and my Vitamin D levels drop.
I can't drink it in summer though because it warms me up too much. I end up sweating from it.
