I wrote this last night and then forgot to post it.

We have all survived Christmas. Cordelia and I have a week and a half of sleeping in, but Scott's back to work. I'll write more about Christmas later. This is mostly an I'm-not-dead post.

I got three Yuletide stories this year, all for Ursula Vernon's Hamster Princess series, two in the main collection and one in Madness. They're all three great, and they really helped me deal with the last couple of days.

I only wrote one story, but it's been well received.

Glad to hear from you -- I'd been wondering how it was going.

I had never run across the Hamster Princess books but was intrigued by the title, so I've requested one from the library.

They are delightful. They're clever, and sympathetic, and present a whole range of concepts that have changed in the last few decades in ways that I think kids will just absorb. Vernon also has an older series about Danny Dragonbreath which is also delightful, but in some ways not as well developed.

I just finished reading Hamster Princess Harriet The Invincible. The first 34 pages seemed like it was going to be predictable, but after that it turned fun! I especially loved how Harriet numbered all the stairs up to her tower bedroom, with properly reduced fractions, to encourage people who were climbing the stairs and wanted to know how far along they were. :)

I bookmarked your story before the reveal, so I had no idea it was yours.
