Yesterday, the weather was rainy and not very warm (at least for June. It made it to 70). Cordelia was disappointed because her class, along with the third and fifth graders, was scheduled to go to the pool. They had the water slide reserved for an hour. Fortunately, they were able to go today, instead, and were still able to get the time on the water slide.

We had a bit of fuss last night. I was looking for the address book. It wasn't where it's supposed to be, and I knew Cordelia had had it out for thank you notes for her birthday. She says she left it on the dining room table. It's nowhere to be found in there, and we couldn't find it in the living room either. Scott wants to do a deep cleaning in hopes of finding it, but I don't know when there'll be time and energy for anything like that.

That address book is the one we've had the entire time we've been married. A lot of the addresses and phone numbers in it are out of date, but most aren't. Getting the addresses for my family, in particular, again is going to be a major chore. My mother doesn't like to give me addresses or phone numbers for relatives, and people like my grandmother don't have e-mail addresses I can use to reach them.

Anyway, if I ought to have your address and/or phone number, could you please e-mail it to me or PM me?

We might still find the address book, but I'm not optimistic. Admittedly our searching last night was curtailed by Scott needing to get to bed as early as possible so that he could get up at 2 a.m. to go to work (this going in early over time will last at least two more weeks. He's hoping it won't last longer. He's doing three twelve hour shifts a week regularly now).

Today, the weather was better. Scott's father came down to do some work around our yard. His original stated plan was to do a little painting where he and Scott had repaired the garage when they put up Cordelia's basketball hoop, but he kept adding more things that he wanted to. Scott was worried about him doing all of that (not without reason). I kept going out to check on him. We can't tell him that he's not able to do this stuff.

We did manage to dissuade him from one task-- Some time back, Scott disassembled Cordelia's old, rusted out swingset and piled the pieces against the garage. Scott's father wanted to cut the pieces up so that they'd fit in our car or in the trash. Instead, we're trying to track down someone who buys scrap metal. The swingset isn't worth much, but we're more than happy to give it away. I've got two names and phone numbers. I left a message with one of them earlier today.

Scott's father still did a lot of pruning and such. He didn't do the area he really wanted to get to-- the bit between the fence and our garage. The space is small, and there are trees growing there. They need to go, but we really didn't want Scott's father doing it. Fortunately, he decided that that was beyond him for now.

After Scott's father went home (he wouldn't let me take him to lunch. I asked), I went to the school to work in the library. Cordelia's class wasn't there, of course, but there was shelving to do, and the librarian asked me to shelf read the non-fiction. She said that her assistant started the non-fiction in the morning but had to leave because she was sick. That being the case, I started at the last set of shelves and worked backward. I got all the way to the beginning and found mis-shelved books all the way through. I don't think the assistant even got through one set of shelves.
