Oct. 15th, 2009 12:58 pmScott is mildly against my signing up for Yuletide. He doesn't like the distraction at a time of year that's full of family obligations and things needing to be done. I can see his point, but I also want very much to do Yuletide. He's not vehement. He says he knows how important it is to me, but when I asked what he thought, he said he'd rather I not do it.
I'm torn. There's nothing at all else like Yuletide. Each year, I write something I'd not have thought to try otherwise. I've also already nominated my fandoms (Ayatsuri Sakon, Condor Hero, Handsome Siblings, Patriotic Knights, Planet Ladder and Romance of Red Dust). I think I can write, even with the hip pain. I'll just have to plan and budget my time, and I have more time this year, what with Cordelia in school all day.
I really don't know. Scott has some good points. I think Yuletide might be good for me, however. I need something to which to give my attention for a while.
Of course, I could just work on the hundreds of fic recs that I've got waiting to be written and posted on my website or rewrite and post the three (I think it's three) pending fics from last year or search for a beta reader for Rheotaxis chapters 18-20 or…. But none of those things have any semblance of social interaction. I may not talk to other Yuletide people much, but I really like the feeling that I'm doing something along with many, many other people.
