Jun. 28th, 2013 08:54 amCordelia's team lost their game on Wednesday but not by nearly as much as Monday's game. I think the difference was about four runs this time. The park where the game was had a bit of an insect problem. Scott says that, looking at the park on Google, there was a pond nearby. A lady sitting by me gave me some insect repellant, but Cordelia was stuck without. We'll have to remember to spray her before the next game at that park.
cherydactyl picked up the girls from camp yesterday (and will again today, thank goodness!). They got caught in a torrential downpour with only one leaky umbrella (I didn't know the umbrella leaked when I gave it to her). They were all completely soaked by the time they got here. Cordelia had fallen in the mud earlier in the day at camp, so she went through three complete changes of clothing yesterday.
I'm currently struggling with the temptation to open some windows. It's about ten degrees cooler outside than it is in here. Of course, the humidity is twice as high, so it doesn't feel as cool as it is. I'm not sure that increasing the humidity in the house is worth the couple of degrees I'd manage to cool things off.
It's looking like Scott and I may not get our dinner out for another week or two. Scott's sister is willing to take Cordelia tomorrow or Sunday, but tomorrow may be the only chance for Scott and Cordelia to see fireworks. Because of how fast the park fills up, they'd have to get there around noon and stay through the end of the fireworks. (Our usual way of doing fireworks is to go up to Scott's parents' place on the Fourth, but I'm against doing that this year. Cordelia and I have to be up at 7 a.m. on Friday, and we wouldn't get to bed until midnight at best.) Sunday won't work because Cordelia has softball practice at 6:00. I suppose we could go somewhere while she's at practice. I may suggest it to Scott. An hour and a half shouldn't rush us too badly, right?
