the_rckI'm still waiting to hear what my Fic Corner assignment will be. Looking at the sign up summary, I know which of the fandoms I offered were requested, so I have some idea what I might get. The moderator keeps posting to the community saying that there are delays in getting assignments put together. I'm surprised the moderator has bothered. Assignments aren't late going out yet, and I figure that a couple of days more or less doesn't matter. The fic due date is in mid-September. I mainly want to know what I'm writing so that I can take the book(s) with me when I travel with my sister, and I have until Sunday for that.
The more I think about chapter 24 of Rheotaxis, the more nervous I become. I've avoided heavy world building so far in the story, but it's necessary now. I've named the four worlds involved, but I haven't thought about the cultures on those worlds (except to know that there are many). I've established a few things about the ruling culture but only those things I absolutely needed for the story I was telling. I know a few other things, just not much.
Anybody have any suggestions for good world building tools for writers or game masters? I'm sure such things must exist, but I have no idea where to begin looking for them.
