Scott's brother and his family arrived about two. Scott had been in a frenzy of cleaning for most of the morning. I was taking a more laid back approach. They've known us forever. They know we're not naturally neat. Of course, if I weren't sick, I might have been cleaning just as vigorously.

Cordelia's nine year old cousin is reading The Hunger Games and tends to dive into the book with little notice. Cordelia's been giving a lot of attention to the younger cousin, playing with her, reading her stories, generally trying to keep her occupied. I'm not sure how the older cousin feels about this. She's not making any huge effort to get Cordelia's attention, but giving them a chance to play together is one of the points of the visit.

Scott says that his tactical error last night was accepting an invitation to stay at his parents' place for pie. That gave Cordelia time to get cold feet. If he'd left immediately, she'd have had to stay. Next time.

I'm sorry that C didn't make it through the night, but the way it is phrased as a "tactical error" made me put on a much-needed smile for a few minutes. I think she'll get there -- suggesting it was a step in the right direction for her. Now it's just finding the right way of executing it. :D
