I'm so tired of this cold. I want the next week or so to be over just so that the cold can be over. This in spite of the fact that there are important things going on during that time. At least I'm no longer having the feeling that the thing is trying to creep into my lungs. I had a day when I was quite concerned that matters were heading in that direction.

I was anti-social for most of our family visit. I kept thinking that I should try to interact more, but I didn't have the energy, and everybody seemed to want to play games or read books.

I think Cordelia's nine year old cousin was a bit disappointed in Cordelia (or possibly the other way around). They didn't spend much time playing together. We had an hour's drive yesterday with both girls in the car, and they were completely quiet the whole way. Our niece chose to drive back with her parents rather than with us. I think she'd hoped she and Cordelia could do something together in the car. Our niece spent a lot of time reading while she was here. Cordelia used that time to play with the two year old.

Last night was the family picture appointment. We all trekked out to a state park near where Scott's parents live. The drive up was challenging. There were a lot of slow downs on 23 going north. Scott's sister wanted us there fifteen minutes before the photographer was due, but we got there just as she was arriving.

She did the four subsets of the family first. We went first because all three of us were ready. Scott's parents went next. Scott's sister's family had a bit of difficulty because our nephew feels he has to prove his independence by not cooperating. He did a lot of making faces. He was also the only one who hadn't dressed up at least a little. Scott's brother's family had more trouble with their pictures because the two year old couldn't understand what was going on and had to be coaxed into cooperating. The nine year old seems to have inherited her mother's dislike of being photographed. She kept trying to duck behind other people in the group shots.

After the photographs were finally done (it was chilly out there!), we went to a restaurant for dessert. I had cherry pie which was so-so, a bit overly sweet and with a tough crust. Cordelia split a banana split with one of her cousins. Our nephew, the fourteen year old, had a banana split all to himself. His mother was a bit appalled at the size of it. The two year old insisted that she wanted the brownie sundae that was pictured on the menu. Her father shared it with her, but she ate most of the ice cream and some of the brownie.

Today, Scott's brother and his family moved on to Scott's sister's house. Scott and Cordelia went up, too. Scott and his brother are going to play games with our nephew. Cordelia's going to play with her cousins. I've got the day mostly to myself (the cleaning lady comes soon). I've been poking at canon for my Fic Corner story. I need to find a hook to hang it on so that I can start writing and find out what happens.
