TV Logging
Aug. 26th, 2013 10:44 amSo I blog the DVDs (and Netflix streaming) titles I watch. It occurs to me that I should at least list the shows we watch regularly on TV. I'll probably forget some, so this is a work in progress. I'll try to remember to post when we add a show to those we regularly watch or when we try something new and decide not to pursue it.
Ant Farm - This is a Disney Channel sitcom about a group of young prodigies in a special school program. Cordelia actually chose to skip the most recent episode because she didn't like the preview. I was startled.
Antiques Roadshow - Scott and Cordelia don't understand what I get out of this, but I really enjoy seeing what people bring in to get appraised. There I things I'd never have thought existed. Some of it is pretty. It's also kind of nice when people find out that something they've got is worth a lot of money.
Austin and Ally - Disney Channel sitcom about two musicians, a girl who writes music but who, for a long time, couldn't perform and a boy who performs with enthusiasm but can't write music.
The Colbert Report - We enjoy the humor here, and it fits our political views. I often wonder, though, if the people Colbert interviews know what they're getting into. This and The Daily Show eat up most of Scott's and my TV time (we have an hour and a fraction after Cordelia goes to bed).
The Daily Show - This is the closest we get to watching news (Scott listens to Morning Edition on his way to work. I don't. I can't cope most of the time). The humor works for us.
Doctor Who - This is more Scott's show than mine. It edges too far into horror for me at times. I do like knowing what people are talking about when they discuss Doctor Who though.
Dog with a Blog - Disney Channel sitcom about a dog who can talk and the family he belongs to.
Good Luck, Charlie - Disney Channel sitcom about a family with five children.
Gravity Falls - Disney Channel cartoon about two kids staying with their great-uncle in a town where lots of weird things happen. I might actually watch this one on my own, but I'd never have started watching it without Cordelia.
Legend of Korra - We don't love this as much as we do Avatar: the Last Airbender, but we do enjoy it. I'm really looking forward to seeing where the new season goes. Hopefully the romantic elements will have been dropped or minimized.
The Looney Tunes Show - Cordelia loves this cartoon. I find that I miss the Looney Tunes cartoons of my childhood. This is effectively a sitcom in cartoon form. Bugs and Daffy live together. Yosemite Sam is a neighbor. Porky Pig is a friend who visits a lot. Speedy Gonzales owns the local pizza parlour. I'm frequently puzzled as to why anyone puts up with Daffy.
Mythbusters - Scott adores this show. I enjoy it to. It's always fun to see what they come up with to test various myths (and I'm sometimes amazed that they're still coming up with myths after all these years). The explosions are enjoyable, too.
Phineas and Ferb - Disney Channel cartoon. This is the one show we all make sure we don't miss. It's amazing how the writers entwine stories about Candace's busting efforts, Phineas and Ferb's big projects and Perry the Platypus thwarting Dr Doofenschmirtz, all in fifteen minutes. There's even a song every episode.
Psych - I think this is Scott's favorite show. He watches it faithfully. I catch it only occasionally, simply because I happen to be in the room while he's watching. I have trouble with painful embarrassment over the hero's shenanigans as he pretends to be a psychic in order to work as a consultant for the police.
Shake It Up - Disney Channel sitcom about a couple of girls who get spots on a weekly dance show. There's a lot about their families and friends, too.
Sit and Be Fit - I wasn't sure whether or not to count this. This is the exercise program I do Monday through Friday. It's nice because I'm absolutely not going to injure myself doing it, but I wish occasionally for more challenge. The balance is hard to find.
Teen Titans, Go! - I miss the old Teen Titans show. I loved that. This is goofier. It's intended strictly as comedy. It's still good to see the characters again, though.
Warehouse 13 - We're going to miss this show when it ends. I almost didn't get into the show back when it first started. I warmed up to it slowly, and now I enjoy it a lot. I like seeing what artifacts they'll come up with next.
We watch a lot of Disney Channel stuff because Cordelia loves it. That's also why we watch The Looney Tunes Show, and she's the one who remembers to record Teen Titans, Go! Cordelia's taste gives a skewed view of what we like to watch.
Doctor Who and Psych are primarily Scott's shows. I wouldn't bother if left to my own devices.
We tried to add in Primeval: New World, but we kept forgetting it was on and neglected to set the DVR. I expect we'll watch it on DVD in the end (though it was a bit gory for my taste).
Our DVR has recently decided to delete some of our always record this programs. We're having to double check that the things we want to record are actually going to record. This means we may miss some episodes unintentionally.

Date: 2013-08-27 04:33 pm (UTC)I miss the depth of the old Teen Titans, too. And the very last episode they did was all set up for plots for later. I'd love to see some of those picked up.

Date: 2013-08-27 07:20 pm (UTC)I will say that Cyborg really grew on me, too, and one of my favorite parts of the new one is seeing Beast Boy and Cyborg interact, because they're such goofy idiots with each other and they're having the best time.
But, yeah, I'd love to see where the plot went after the end of the first show! The movie was cute, but it didn't cover much.
