Aug. 27th, 2013 01:15 pmLast night, we tried something with Cordelia. I set her up to sleep in the basement on the air mattress we set up for Scott's brother and his wife. She lasted about an hour down there. I'm going to see if I can talk her into trying again tonight. I'd like to get her comfortable with that amount of distance as soon as we can. We need to take the air mattress down soon, and if we want her to try sleeping in a tent outside (the next step), we've got a limited time window as it will be getting colder.
The basement idea came up because Cordelia's ceiling fan broke. She (or one of her friends) tugged too hard on the chain that switches the fan on and off, and the chain broke off inside the fan. Scott managed to get the fan working again (he had to buy and install a new switch), but it doesn't work quite right. I used to have several speeds, but only one of them works with the new switch. Cordelia suggested sleeping in the basement rather than sleeping in her room without the fan (she sleeps in a loft, so it gets really stuffy).
