Nov. 20th, 2004 04:36 pmI promise I'll update with real content some time next week, after the LARP is finally over. I'll probably start writing a summary of the last month before then, but I probably won't finish it before then. In the mean time...
This meme went around a few weeks ago, and it intrigued me then. I started in on it while I was too sick to work on the LARP but didn't finish it. Now that the LARP's ready too run and I'm just waiting for tomorrow afternoon to run it, I thought I see if I could finish (I gave up on digging through "Rheotaxis" looking for better lines, and that's decreased the work involved). In a couple of places, I've given more than one sentence because I couldn't find a single sentence that worked alone as something interesting. I've also pulled more than one sentence from a couple of very long projects. In some cases, it's because I couldn't choose between them, and in others, it's because the work is so long that I felt justified in treating the sections as separate works. Most of these stories have been in progress for years, but rereading them to pick out sentences has made me itch to go back and work on some of them. "Rheotaxis" is first priority, followed most likely by "Etiolation," but... I hope I can find time to expand on some of the others.
If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favourite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else. This is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s).

Another meme that could be fun taken from
splash_the_cat:
If there is any question you would like to ask me about any one of my fics, then go ahead! What I meant by a particular line, why I chose that characterisation, what I was listening to as I wrote, what crack I was taking and where you can get some ... anything. Anything you might like to know about how I wrote a fic, I shall do my best to answer.
I've only got "Rheotaxis," really, but if you want to ask questions about any of the other things I posted snippets of, feel free.
